A Little Bit About Me
I started investing when I was 18 when my dad gave me a $1000 loan, which I then proceeded to lose most of it within a year in spectacular fashion. Ever since then, I became obsessed with trying to learn from my past mistakes and finding a proper way to invest to generate consistent long term returns. Today, I am committed to the "Financial Independence, Retire Early" (FIRE) Movement which aims to liberate any participant from the mundane life of corporate office work and Keeping Up With The Jones's through investing in companies that bring true value to the world. I am the author of the book "Financial Independence Theory: A Beginner's Guide To Financial Liberation", and I have my YouTube Channel, "Andy's FIRE Club". Come with me on my journey to FIRE! Throughout my time at the University of Waterloo where I majored in Mathematics, I had some wonderful opportunities to intern at some of Canada's largest companies such as the Royal Bank of Canada, and Loblaw Companies Limited. I took on a variety of roles in fields such as data analytics, software development, and real estate management.
I participated in UW StockTrak, the official stock simulator game ran by the Math Faculty of the University of Waterloo (which simulated real world returns from October 2016 to December 2019) and placed 5th out of a total of 535 participants.
I am an avid reader. In January 2019, I founded the UW Book Club which aims to explore and actively discuss various literary works in both fiction and non-fiction with other like-minded individuals.
I now have a published book called Financial Independence Theory: A Beginner's Guide to Financial Freedom, and I run my own YouTube channel in which I discuss and share my opinions on all things personal finance, stocks, crypto, and other investments related topics.
